Terms

Last updated October 1, 2026

These terms apply when you use SlopeGauge. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Forecasts are estimates

SlopeGauge models snow conditions from weather forecasts. It is not a report from the mountain, and it can be wrong.

Scores, snow totals, temperatures and timings are predictions from weather data, and weather forecasts are often wrong, especially in the mountains. We don’t know about grooming, lift or trail closures, avalanche danger, or anything else happening on the ground.

Don’t rely on SlopeGauge for your safety. Before you ride, check the resort’s own reports and your local avalanche center, especially before going into the backcountry. Skiing and snowboarding are dangerous, and you are responsible for your own decisions and the risks you take.

Your account

You must be at least 13 to make an account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, because you are responsible for what happens on your account. Give us an email address that works, since we use it for password resets and anything important.

Season passes

A season pass costs $25 and unlocks the pass-holder features for one ski season. Every season ends on June 30, and a pass lasts until the next June 30 after you buy it. A pass bought late in a season gets the rest of that season, not a full year. The season a pass covers is shown before you pay.

A pass is a one-time payment, not a subscription. It never renews and never charges you again. It belongs to your account and can’t be transferred or shared.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and may change for future seasons, but never for a pass you already own.

Refunds

All season pass sales are final. We don’t offer refunds, including for a partly used season or a season with poor snow.

The pass starts working as soon as you buy it, and you agree to that when you check out. The price and the season it covers are shown before you pay. This doesn’t affect any refund rights the law in your country gives you that can’t be waived.

If something is wrong with a charge, for example you were charged twice, email slopestate@gmail.com and we will fix it. If you dispute a charge with your bank, the pass is switched off while the dispute is open.

Fair use

Use SlopeGauge for yourself, not to scrape it. Please don’t copy forecasts in bulk, use automated tools to collect data from the site, try to get around the season pass, interfere with how the site runs, or use it to break the law. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

Affiliates

If you join the affiliate program, the terms on the affiliates page apply too. Referrals have to be genuine. Buying through your own link, or getting referrals by misleading people, cancels the commission and can get you removed from the program.

Our content

The site, its design, its scoring and its writing belong to SlopeGauge. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo and mountain data from OpenStreetMap contributors, under their own licences, which the footer credits on every page.

Changes and availability

We are always improving SlopeGauge, so features may change, and the site may sometimes be down. We may also change these terms. When we do, we will update the date at the top, and email account holders about anything significant. If you keep using the site after a change, that means you accept the new terms.

Disclaimer

SlopeGauge is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that forecasts or conditions shown will be accurate or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SlopeGauge will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss or damage that comes from relying on a forecast or condition shown on the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $25.

Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing here limits rights that the law doesn’t allow us to limit.

Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against SlopeGauge because of how you used the site or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the costs that result.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, email us first. Most problems can be fixed that way.

If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
